Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me *Movie Review* + Giveaway

I may be a city girl nowadays, but my roots are out in the pasture with the cattle. I grew up spending many days and nights throughout my childhood with my farming grandparents. I love the country life and enjoyed the music we listened to as well.

One reason I wanted to review this movie is because I myself have experienced family members who have suffered with Alzheimer's Disease. It can be hard when you are not remembered by someone who has shared in providing many wonderful memories in your life. I was really interested in this family's story and how they get through day to day.

Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman, Galveston, Rhinestone Cowboy, and Gentle On My Mind are some of the classics that I grew up loving. He had so many great songs we would sing along to. I also love learning about the journey and adventures of folks who have done so much in their lives and continue to achieve great things.

Amazing story to watch! What an emotional roller coaster they are on. Just seeing what Mrs. Campbell has to deal with day to day, God really knew what He was doing when He joined these two together. She is such a strong woman!

The concert scenes were great too. Sometimes he would go off  on a talking tangent, but he would eventually get back to the song. He always had some great jokes to throw in there. Man, his guitar skills!!! Alzheimer's has not taken that away from him at all.

You can really see the Alzheimer's taking it's toll in parts of the film. Blaming people for stealing his things, pushing all the buttons on people's doors, and not remembering his children's names.

This is a heartbreaking yet celebratory film. The fact that he is still able to play his guitar like nobody's business and perform his songs in key is astounding. You can also see the love he has for his wife.

In 2011, when Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he joined forces with his family to fight the biggest battle of his life. Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by going public with the diagnosis – the first time a major American celebrity would share this experience with the world. The Campbell family then embarked on a short “Goodbye Tour,” but the three-week engagement turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force.

This epic human drama about the undying bond between Glen and Kim, and their unwavering caring for each other, chronicles a story of love, resilience and the power of song.

GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME is the true tale of how America’s greatest country star would not give up his music or his family, against all odds.

The film features those who know and love Glen, including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Taylor Swift among many others. Rare vintage footage and extraordinary new performances of Glen’s most beloved hits immerse this moving cinematic account in the overwhelming talent of this humble family man. With joy and a tireless sense of humor, Glen and his family live each moment in the present while preparing for the future, all while playing their music to sold out venues on a star spangled voyage spanning the country from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl.
